Day-by-Day Program

You will find us waiting for you when your international flight arrives in Lima. Look for the sign with your name and the smile. We will take you to your hotel, check you in and help you get settled.

Hotel: Marriott Courtyard, Lima

We will start a little later than usual allowing you to recover from the exhausting day of travel. After a breakfast we will take you on a private tour of Lima that will bring you to the beautiful colonial center of the city. You will visit the Lima Cathedral and the Convent of San Francisco. The catacombs under the convent house the skeletal remains of much of colonial Lima! We will also visit Casa Aliaga, a 1535 mansion – it is one of the oldest mansions in the New World and has been occupied by the Aliaga family since its construction. 

In the afternoon, you will be escorted to The Magic Circuit of the Water which has the Guinness Book record to the largest fountain complex in the world, displaying 13 distinct fountains and many of those are interactive. All of the fountains are illuminated at night with continuously changing color schemes. A colorful laser light program synchronized with classical and Peruvian music makes these fountains sparkle and shine as the water flows in unique patterns and shape. Afterwards we will escort you back to your hotel.

After breakfast, we will head to the airport for the flight to Cusco. We will be waiting for you when your flight lands at the airport and before you can even feel the altitude, we’ll make our way into the Sacred Valley.  Just 20 minutes after leaving the same center of Cusco our first stop waits for us, Sacsayhuaman. It is believed that more than 20 thousand men extracted the stones from the nearby quarries and moved them 20 kilometers to the hill of the city of Cusco.

Later in the day, we will head to a special spot for an exclusive lunch experience. Here, you will enjoy a different lunch style in a private terrace with a spectacular and privileged view of the Sacred Valley of The Incas. 

After this amazing lunch, you will head to our last stop of the day at the Inkariy Museum, this is a very special and unique museum, here you can find a perfect explanation about 8 cultures that preside the fabulous Inca Culture,  At the end of your first day in the Sacred Valley, you will be escorted to your hotel and your private guide will help you check in and leave you once you are ready and installed in your fabulous property.

For many years Quechua Youth has approached Casita Huaran seeking new opportunities of work, education, and understanding, and Tania Herrera, local fearless leader opened their doors to the kids to a Safe and Free Space, which is now their second home and family. This beautiful bond of trust was born and naturally unfolded the real stories of adversity these families were confronting. Here you can participate in the activity’s kids make on a daily basis and, more important, know the magic and purpose behind this awesome and one-of-a-kind human project.

We will continue our journey to another part of the Sacred Valley, a special spot where you will enjoy a fascinating picnic lunch surrounded by the magic of the Andean atmosphere and the view of the magnificent mountains around you.

Then, you will head to visit Moray, an archaeological site shaped as an amphitheater, believed to be utilized as an agricultural experimental station by the Incas.. It is believed the terraces of Moray were used to acclimate, experiment with and domesticate different crops. Afterwards, you will head back to your hotel and prepare for the next day adventure, Machu Picchu.

In the morning after breakfast, you will be transferred to the train station of Ollantaytambo in order to board the train for where your journey to Machu Picchu will begin.

Once you arrive, you will be escorted by your guide and after a bus ride of 30min you will get to the admission way of the magnificent Inca citadel. Then ascend stone steps, through heavy tree cover to finally emerge at the top of the world – Machu Picchu!  Your expert guide will give you a private tour of the ancient city.  

After finishing your visit, you will have time to explore and proceed to have lunch. After lunch you will proceed to the bus station in order to take your bus down to Aguas Calientes town where your guide will help you take the train back to Cusco.

After breakfast, and just 45 minutes outside of Cusco, true Peruvian countryside will stretch away on either side of you, cows and sheep grazing tranquilly road-side. Your journey will take you to visit Manos de la Comunidad Project, where you will see traditional weavers at work and come face to face with llamas, alpacas and other Andean camelids.

After this visiting, your guide will take you to discover the magic behind the soft hike to Inkilltambo. Enjoy this fabulous scenic route that offers a bird eye view of a part of Cusco city, you will also be hiking along a beautiful small river on one side and eucalyptus trees on the other. This hidden complex has a particularly history even in its name, a quechua word that means Inca Prison.

Finally, your guide will proceed to illuminate the glorious past of Cusco! You will head the Santo Domingo monastery, built on top of the ancient Inca temple of the sun, to the incredible colonial cathedral in the Plaza de Armas, to impeccably-wrought Inca stones that form the base of modern buildings, you will learn about the astonishing mix that is Cusco. At the end of this exciting morning, your guide will provide suggestions for fantastic dining in the city of Cusco and for activities for your free afternoon before bringing you back to your hotel.

EXTENSION #1: Train to Puno. The star attraction of this full day train ride is the stunning scenery, journeying from Andean peaks to the Altiplano (high plains). This is a slow train ride, one that allows you to truly admire the varied landscapes of Peru. Today, you can soak up the scenery in style and comfort on board the Titicaca train, either from your seat or from the observation coach and this is the fascinating experience you will have.

EXTENSION #2: After some free time in Cusco, we will head back to Lima for an overnight.

EXTENSION #1: Those in Puno will visit first, the Floating Islands of the Uros, taking a comfortable boat from the port of Puno (30 minutes), after visiting 2 floating islands in the Uros, we will continue with the trip to the island of Luquina (2 ½ hours ), where we will arrive halfway through the middle, upon our arrival we will be cordially received by local families. Accompanied by the families we will walk (30 mins uphill) to the local houses of Luquina, where we will have lunch typical Andean food of the island.  After appreciating the beautiful views of the lake and its splendor, we will wait to see one of the most beautiful sunsets in the world. Finally, we will return to have dinner in the local houses, during the night the families will organize a welcome party (Optional) where we will be able to dance and wear the local clothing, all this accompanied by local musicians.

EXTENSION #1: Will start the day with a typical breakfast and then descend to the port of Luquina (8am approx), to take our boat to the Island of Taquile, where we will have a presentation of their dances, textiles, handicrafts and more customs by the people of Taquile. ; We will also enjoy a typical lunch, in addition to being able to contemplate the beautiful views of the lake and the island. Finally, you will return to Puno, where we will head to the airport from in order to take your flight back to Lima and later international flight connection.
