Day-by-Day Program

09:00 hrs: Arrival transfer from Venice airport.

11:00 hrs: Goriška Brda Wine Region is stunningly captivating. Excellent wines allied to a picturesque landscape have bestowed on Brda the title “Tuscany of Slovenia”.

Our first stop will be in Šmartno, which is situated in the geographical center of Brda. Gradnik, the local poet, compares the village with the eagle´s nest resting on a place, where the view stretches from the Nanos hill in the east to the Carnija Alps in the northwest, and from the Furlanija to the Adriatic Sea.

Like some other villages and fortifications that were built to protect the people against the Turkish raids in the region of Brda and the whole Primorska, the remarkable historical value of Šmartno is given to the village with the status of a cultural monument of the first order.

Our second stop will be in Gonjače, a village in the Municipality of Brda in the Littoral region of Slovenia with only about 172 residents.

14:00 hrs: Goriška Brda is one of the world’s best wine-growing terroirs. Home not only to wine, but the area also produces delicious cherries, persimmons, figs, and probably the spiciest olive oil you have ever tasted. Goriška Brda is predominantly the region of beautiful rebula white wine (ribolla gialla) but never underestimate the rich Bordeaux-like blends.

For a special experience enjoy your picnic lunch in the vineyard surrounded by the scenic splendor and breathtaking views of hills covered in vineyards and olive groves. Among the rows you will be able to immerse yourself in the flavor and smell of the hills for a sensory and culinary experience: a dinner in the vineyard accompanied by the wines.

Included Activities: Local wine tasting, picnic lunch or evening dinner in the vineyard.

Hotel: 4 star hotel

Meals Included: Lunch or Dinner

08:00 hrs: Private transfer* from Goriška Brda to Slovenian coast.

14:00 hrs: Vintage Gourmet Tour is an educational journey through the tracks of old autochthonous varieties of olives, which grow on the most beautiful viewing points of the Slovenian coast and the Istrian countryside.

The tour starts at an agreed location where guests are picked up with oldtimer cars. The smell of gasoline, loud motors, and nostalgic memories of the old times draw wide smiles on the faces of those waiting.

Slowly and cheerfully we begin our trip, where we visit the most beautiful locations on the Slovenian coast. At the sightseeing point in the middle of the path, we stop and with a glass of house sparkling wine we chat. Then we continue our journey to the Lisjak olive oil estate, where we learn how to taste olive oil.

There we serve you with typical Istrian cold-cuts, continue with typical soup-Bobiči and Istrian fusi (pasta) with truffles. All traditional recipes.

15:00 hrs: Pass the coastal towns of Koper, Izola, and Portoroz and reach everyone’s favorite spot on the Slovenian coast – Piran. Get lost in its medieval narrow streets, galleries, hidden corners, and houses. Enjoy some free time over an exquisite seafood meal in one of the many local restaurants or cafes.

The city of Piran is known as one of the oldest towns in Slovenia, mentioned for the first time in the 8th century already! Through centuries many different cultures have passed dominion over this part of Slovenia and left their footprints visible in the architecture and way of life. Piran is known for its unmistakable appearance of a peninsula-situated and fortified town with a charismatic St. George cathedral sitting above it.

Horses, the Spanish horse was considered an ideal breed, were at the time a crucial strategic advantage and were thus of outstanding importance to the Habsburgs.

Of course, this will not be just a regular visit. After a short walk around the property, you will have a unique opportunity to enjoy a real carriage ride followed by a picnic in nature on the Stud farm’s property.

15:00 hrs: Discover the magnificent 24 km halls and chambers of the mystic underground of the Postojna Cave, the most prominent karst cave in the world which was first described in the 17th century and was ready to visit more than 200 years ago.

The cave train ride is organized only for you. A private saxophone player will play only for you in the cave and a glass of champagne will be offered.

17:00 hrs: In an idyllic village of Predjama there lies a fairy tale medieval stone-built castle that has been perched in the middle of a 123-meter-high cliff for more than 800 years. It is famous for its dramatic setting in the gaping mouth of a cavern halfway up a hillside and the legend of the knight Erasmus – ‘Slovenian Robin Hood’.
