Arusha: Resting at the foot of Mount Meru, the sprawling city of Arusha is known as the safari capital of northern Tanzania. It serves as an excellent base from which to explore the remarkably scenic surrounding area which includes majestic Mount Kilimanjaro, as well as the Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro National Parks. Arusha is a good spot to take a day or two off from the safari circuit as it features a temperate climate and lush surrounds. Visitors can look forward to exploring the wildlife-abundant Serengeti National Park; the magnificent Arusha National Park; and taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Meru, Africa’s fifth highest mountain.

Itinerary

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, situated just 45 kilometres from the vibrant city of Arusha, you will be warmly welcomed and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. Enjoy a relaxed evening and an overnight stay, allowing you to unwind and prepare for the exciting journey ahead.

Tarangire National Park: Tarangire National Park, situated within Tanzania’s spectacular Manyara Region, is an awe-inspiring national park comprising of granite ridges, river valleys, mixed vegetative landscapes, and free-roaming wildlife. During the annual dry season, the Tarangire River is a magnet for thirsty wildlife. Large herds of elephants and migratory wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, impala, gazelle, hartebeest and eland gather and not surprisingly the predators follow. With lion being among the most commonly spotted animal, it is a rare day that a visitor does not spot this majestic animal prowling or grazing. Tarangire is also the one place in Tanzania where dry-country antelope such as oryx and gerenuk are seen regularly. This expansive area is also known for its spectacular baobab trees, its breathtaking views of the Masaai Steppe and the wondrous mountains to the south.

Itinerary:
In the morning, after a leisurely breakfast, you will receive a safari briefing covering the essential dos and don’ts to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Shortly thereafter, you will set off on a drive to Tarangire National Park for a full day of game viewing. Explore the park’s diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes before returning to your lodge in Tarangire for dinner and an overnight stay.

Karatu: Travellers heading for the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater will pass through the town of Karatu in the green hills of Tanzania’s northern highlands. Presided over by the towering Ol Deani Volcano, this small, colourful town serves as a popular overnight stop for visitors exploring the area’s many game parks. The town offers a variety of activities including browsing the bustling marketplace, sampling beer at a local brewery, visiting a traditional homestead, or taking a guided walk through the Ngorongoro Forest in search of waterfalls and caves. Whether you are looking for cultural tours, hiking and biking opportunities, a chance to enjoy an authentic rural Tanzania experience, or simply a break between safari game drives, this underrated town has plenty to offer.

Itinerary:
Drive through the impressive crater wall to Lake Manyara National Park, renowned for its striking alkaline lake and the famous tree-climbing lions. After a day of exploration, enjoy all meals and an overnight stay at a lodge perched on the rim of the great crater wall, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

Itinerary:
Experience a day rich in cultural activities, beginning with visits to the Datoga and Tindiga tribes in the Lake Eyasi region. Ikoma: Ikoma is situated in Tanzania, east of the Serengeti National Park, at the base of the majestic Mt. Meru, Ikoma is surrounded by stunning natural beauty. Lake Manyara and the Ngorongoro Crater are both within easy driving distance, making Ikoma the perfect base for exploring the region. In addition to its natural wonders, Ikoma is also home to a number of great activities, including hiking, biking and bird watching. With so much to see and do, it’s no wonder Ikoma is one of Tanzania’s most popular tourist destinations. Other Highlights in the surrounding area include Lake Ndutu, and the Olduvai Gorge. Following this unforgettable experience, you’ll continue your journey with a scenic drive to the iconic Serengeti National Park, where more adventures await.

Itinerary
Today, you have the option to start your adventure with a breathtaking balloon flight over the Serengeti at sunrise, offering a unique perspective of the park’s vast landscapes and wildlife. Afterward, or if you choose not to take the balloon flight, you’ll continue with another full day of game drives in Serengeti National Park, exploring different areas and encountering even more of the park’s incredible wildlife.

Itinerary: Based on your selection, you will either be returning home today or heading to Zanzibar.

  • 25% deposit of booking within 7 days after receipt invoice, balance within 60 days of Educational Trip Travel date
  • Cancellation 91 or more days prior to departure date – $400 per person plus any unrecoverable deposit.
  • 90-61 days prior to departure date – 40% of the safari cost per person
  • 60-31 days prior to departure date – 75% of the safari cost per person
  • 30 days or less prior to departure date – 100% of safari cost to include handling fee and liquidated damages to Sidai African Safaris

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

  • Confirmation: The FAM will operate once we have two (02) attendees. Once confirmed, the advisor has ten (10) business days (2 weeks) to confirm with a 25% deposit and a flight ticket. The remaining participation fee must be received on or by March 14, 2025.
  • International Flights are not included in the price. These can be booked individually. We have private arrival and departure transfers arranged.
  • The Travel Companion must be 18 years of age or older and bound to the same terms of participation as the travel advisor. Only one (01) companion per travel advisor is permitted to join this educational journey.
  • Visa: Would be required. Please visit the website to get your visa as soon as your spot is confirmed. We (Saleint and Sidai African Safaris DMC) cannot be held responsible, and we require you to check your visa requirements by clicking here.
  • Payments can be sent through wire transfer or credit card. 
  • Tipping: While not expected, it is appreciated. We recommend $5-$8 pp for a guide and $3 for the driver.
  • Additional nights and extensions can be arranged, and the costs will vary according to individual requirements. Please get in touch with your sales representative to discuss your extension options.
