Day-by-Day Program

Namaste and Welcome to India !

With a history as a capital, Delhi has seen the tides of several rulers from those that people the pages of the epic poem, Mahabharata to the Tughlaq and Mughal empires from Persia, from the imperial colonial armies to the present-day government. Looted, plundered, and resurrected over the years, Delhi emerges from the ashes of her past to take her place in the world as a global capital –politically, culturally and commercially.

On arrival at Indira Gandhi International airport terminal, you will be met by our representative and transferred to your hotel in a private vehicle.

Check-in upon arrival at hotel.
Rest of the day is at your leisure.

Overnight at the Hotel, New Delhi.

HOTEL: 5 star hotel
MEALS: Taj Palace New Delhi

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel.

Today you will start your day at 08:00hrs from the hotel to explore Old and New Delhi with your local guide.

In Old Delhi, you will come face-to-face with history, walking along the narrow winding lanes of the colorful and bustling Chandni Chowk to visiting Jama Masjid built in the 17th century. Want to take a Rikshaw ride? This is your chance. While optional, it is highly recommended to get the local experience and more of the bazaar (Chandni Chowk). You’ll also visit the Mughal Empire’s most opulent fort, the Red Fort (for a photo stop) before the final stop at the Raj Ghat – the place where Mahatma Gandhi was cremated.

Time for a break? We will visit a local hotel for site inspection and lunch.

After a hearty meal, you’ll head out to the NEW side of Delhi – aka New Delhi.

Once the imperial residence of the British viceroys, the Presidential Palace stands at the far end of India Gate – a memorial raised in Honor of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war. This is not it! You’ll enjoy the drive along Rajpath past the Parliament House and secretarial buildings before heading out to visit the Qutab Minar. This 12th century tower of victory was built by a slave king as the prototype of all minars (towers) in India. And finally, the Humayun’s tomb, a precursor to the Taj Mahal, built in the 16th century.

After the visits you will experience the transformative tour through Nizamuddin Basti celebrates women reclaiming their power, defying norms, and building a more inclusive Delhi.

Delhi boasts of heritage and culture that’s truly unmatched in the world. Through this tour, we offer you a glimpse into the sisterhood that is reclaiming Delhi. Through sustained efforts of the self-help groups of Nizamuddin Basti, the women of the community are building a more equitable and inclusive Delhi. These women are defying deeply entrenched patriarchal norms and are pursuing education, careers and leadership positions. This tour gives you a glimpse into the power of solidarity and community building.

Walk through the Nizamuddin Basti with your woman tour leader from the community who will enthrall you with stories about the vibrant neighborhood steeped in rich history and culture. Visit the famous Dargah Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya, the mausoleum of the revered Sufi saint that attracts pilgrims and visitors from all over the world. As you walk through the narrow lanes, hear stories about lived experiences that have passed down through generations of women who’ve built this community.

Enjoy an MTB immersive experience.

After you visit a few historic sights and learn about some neighborhood secrets, you’ll interact with women who as part of their community ventures are reviving traditional art forms. You’ll participate in a traditional art workshop, witness (and taste!) arguably the best meal being cooked in Delhi as you interact with the women who run these thriving businesses.

We can arrange for a picnic meal for your clients at the lovely Sunder Nursery Gardens if that is preferred.

The initiatives have had a transformative impact on the women of the community and their families. This tour is an opportunity to feel inspired and learn how women with their determination, resilience and a shared vision are building a more inclusive Delhi.

You’ll head back to the hotel to freshen up before we meet again for dinner and site visit.
